DreamMakers Forum 2006
In late October, a group of influential black business owners, corporate executives and professionals gathered in Santa Barbara, Calif., for Northern Trust’s DreamMakers Forum 2006. Held every two years, DreamMakers provides a unique venue for successful black individuals to examine, discuss and learn about the issues and opportunities that arise through the creation, preservation and transfer of wealth.
Held at the Bacara Resort & Spa, this year’s Forum included an inspirational presentation by Dr. Benjamin Carson, director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions; a panel discussion on turning past success into future opportunities and wealth, moderated by Steven Rogers, clinical professor of finance and management at J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University; and an interactive discussion about raising financially responsible children moderated by Joline Godfrey, author of the Northern Trust paper, “Preparing Children for a Life of Wealth.”
