At Northern Trust, Corporate Social Responsibility governance was formally established in 2009 with a newly created post of Executive Vice President
and head of CSR, reporting directly to Chairman and CEO Frederick H. Waddell.

Leading our CSR governance structure is our CSR Executive Steering Committee, established in 2009 to provide oversight and strategic guidance to the EVP and head of CSR.  Consisting of four Management Group members, including our Chairman and CEO, the CSR Executive Steering Committee provides updates to the Management Group and ensures adoption, adherence and accountability for global CSR initiatives, metrics, and key performance indicators.  The head of CSR periodically reports to
the Business Strategy Committee of the Corporation's Board of
Directors about CSR related matters.

In addition, we have a CSR Task Group consisting of a global cross-section of 20 employees from various business unit and staff functions.  This group provides detailed input, analysis and recommendations for developing, monitoring and executing Northern Trust CSR strategy.
